Nutrition Education Session for Swimmers
We will be hosting a team nutrition session for our swimmers delivered by Katie Rosychuk, M.Sc., Certified Sports Nutrition Coach.
Katie is a former varsity swimmer with a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in women’s health and nutrigenomics. She has gained experience working with Beine Wellness Building and learning from Erica Beine, who has supported elite athletes including Caeleb Dressel, Gabby DeLoof, and high-performance programs such as the Sandpipers of Nevada.
Katie specializes in personalized sports nutrition and will deliver a practical, age-appropriate session focused on how swimmers can fuel for training, performance, and recovery. Topics will address the specific demands of our athletes, including busy schedules, commuting, and daily training needs. This session will focus on training nutrition, with a future talk planned around competition fueling.
From a high-performance perspective, improving our athletes’ understanding of how, what, when, how much, and why to fuel is one of the biggest opportunities we have as a club. When swimmers understand the why, they make better independent choices and build habits that support long-term performance. Katie will provide simple, actionable strategies they can apply right away.
Session Details
📅 Saturday, February 14
🕙 10:15–11:15am (room access at 10:00am for setup)
Groups Invited
• National 8 (Burnaby & Langley)
• National 9 (Burnaby & Langley)
• Varsity
Due to room capacity (50 people), attendance is limited to swimmers only. While parents are not included this time, we plan to share resources afterward (PDF summary, follow-up materials, or a future parent session), recognizing the important role families play in grocery shopping and meal preparation.
Timing aligns well with existing schedules, as it follows swim practice for Langley 8/9, Burnaby 9, and Varsity, and finishes before the 11:30am S&C session at Sinclair, as well as before National 8 Burnaby practice.
This session will serve as an initial high-performance pilot, with plans to expand nutrition education to additional groups in the future.
